Explore & Research

We got as much work done on the mood boards as we could in lesson but needed to use our own time for research and finishing.
As a group we are required to do a presentation on our findings and our word.
We all went away did our individual mood boards and concepts of the word "Wrapped" and met up as a group to put them into a presentation.
My mood board is Above :

Explore & Creativity

This week we had to take the garments we created out the mutton cloth and drape them in about 10 different styles.

After this we documented it in drawings.
This was a really good exercise as it helped my illustraction skills and drawing skills

18th October

Today we were placed in groups.
The previous week we were given a word and were told to research it in our own time.
Our word was

'WRAPPED'

We came prepared with images, bits of text, ect.
Grouped different idea's together and then went away to make mood boards.

It was a very long process because each group member had to look at a different concept from the word wrapped and what it says to them.

We regrouped the images and text so many times but it was very much needed ...

Once we removed our creation from the stand we played around to see how it could become a wearable piece.
I was quite happy with the outcome.
You can see pictures of my piece and other pairs work that I found inspiring ...

PART THREE "The final part"

So at the end of the day we were put into groups and our task was to dress a mannequin in an interesting way so we could draw it into a fashion illustration piece I really enjoyed this part of the session as we could put our own flare on our drawings.
OH AND FINALLY WE COULD USE COLOUR! HOORAY!

Part two!

In the afternoon we had to do a number of quick sketches in groups.
The aim of this was to get familiar with the way you can draw clothes and fabrics on a body, how they fall, how to create different textures and to draw a body in proportion.
At first I found this difficult as drawing figures is not my strong point but I feel I improved as the session went on.

Today was a very exciting day!
We had a whole day of drawing. Not your normal pen to paper drawing,
This was fun, exciting, quick sketches, sketches with your left hand, none-stop line drawings ect

The day started with drawing simple lines and getting used to how your pencil works and how you can make the most of it. Below are some examples

TODAY! 5th October

Today we were asked to bring in GIANT paper to do big versions of the work we produced in the paper workshop last week.
I managed to get my hands on some AZero paper and this is what I came up with.
Sometime soon I am going to print these pictures off and develop them to see how they could work as a piece :]

Then we had to create 3 rules for this square eg. 1. Take away a section of the square,2. Add a triangle, 3. Add a fold
It was tricky at first creating a interesting shape but it came together at the end, Take a look

First day! First week! 27th October
Eeeeek! The excitement was overwhelming
Task for today : I had the priveledge of visiting "Hussein Chalayan's" exhibition at Spring Projects in Kentish town.
Getting there was an adventure in itself, once there I really enjoyed myself. I love Chalayan's work! His bold shapes, use of materials ect.
The pieces on display were hard fibreglass forms that looked almost windswept. The grey colours and hard material made it look very plain, but very beautiful at the same time.
Good day :]
